Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park legally and safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- slow down to 40km/h in the school zone and be aware of school crossings
- do not park in or walk through the staff carpark which is designated for staff members only
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
Drop off and Kiss and Drop Zone procedures
We have a designated Kiss and Drop Zone located at the front of the school on Thurwood Avenue. Parents and carers are asked to follow all road signs and traffic directions when using this area to ensure the safety and efficiency of student drop-offs and pick-ups.
Drop-off and Pick-up, or kiss-and-drop zones, provide a designated area on the school side of the road for dropping off and collecting your children by car.
Please:
- drop your child off and pick them up on the school side of the road
- never call out to your child from across the road - it is very dangerous
- always get your child in and out of the car on the footpath side (safety door)
- stay within 3 metres of your car
- park for 2 minutes at the most.
Park and walk
Parking is available on Ikin Street at the back of the school, Thurwood Ave at the front of the school and on nearby streets for longer-term parking. Please ensure you park legally and safely, keeping driveways and access points clear. For the safety of all students, the Kiss and Drop Zone should only be used for quick drop-offs or pick-ups.
Parking a short distance from the school and walking the rest of the way - offers a range of benefits for students, families, and the broader community:
Please:
- park safely and legally - further away from the school to reduce traffic around our school
- walk the rest of the way together – it’s safer and sets a good example
- talk about staying safe and alert near roads.
